Pecan Apple Sauce Pie

  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/3 cup cane sugar
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2/3 cup Santa Cruz Organic® Apple Sauce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup coarsely chopped pecans, plus 5 whole pecan halves
  • 1 unbaked pastry shell (9-inches)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream, chilled
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar


  1. HEAT oven to 375°. Combine brown sugar, cane sugar, flour, cinnamon and nutmeg. Stir in eggs, apple sauce and vanilla until blended. Stir in chopped pecans.
  2. PLACE pastry shell on baking sheet. Pour filling into pastry shell. Arrange remaining 5 pecan halves on center of pie. Bake for 33 to 37 minutes or until set. Cool. Chill.
  3. BEAT cream and powdered sugar in medium bowl with electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form. Place into decorator bag fitted with large star-tip. Top pie with 8 swirls of whipped cream.
